PÖFF and Introduct: Here’s the Story Behind the Partnership

POFF

PÖFF published a piece featuring Jevgeni Levin, our COO. Reading it felt like a good moment to say what we’d add from our side.

What Is PÖFF, and Why Does a Custom Software Development Company Care?

PÖFF, or Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, is one of only 17 A-category film festivals worldwide. Last year it generated 43 billion potential media contacts, drew nearly 95,000 cinema visits, and attracted approximately 2,700 international guests. It is, by any measure, a serious operation.

Introduct is a custom software development company founded in 2016, specializing in high-load systems, fintech platforms, and complex web applications where reliability is not optional. We are the official technical partner and grand partner (Peapartner) for PÖFF’s 30th anniversary edition.

That combination raises a fair question: why does a software development company sponsor a film festival?

The answer has two parts.

The Practical Part: High-Load Software Under Real Pressure

Festival ticket sales don’t spread evenly across the year. They concentrate in a short window, and when a new program drops or a popular screening sells out, thousands of people try to buy simultaneously.

For a high-traffic web application, that kind of spike is where things break. Slow response times, failed transactions, and timeouts during checkout: any of these means a cinema seat goes empty and a visitor leaves frustrated. In a system supporting over 2 million digital visits per festival cycle, there is almost no margin for technical failure.

Our team manages the full technical lifecycle of PÖFF’s digital platforms, from backend stability to frontend performance. That includes:

  • Ensuring the ticketing system handles sudden traffic spikes without failed requests
  • Maintaining stable operations across the full festival period
  • Building scalable architecture that doesn’t require emergency intervention at peak hours

This is the same type of work we do for fintech clients and enterprise platforms, where a system going down at the wrong moment has real financial and reputational consequences. PÖFF is a genuine test of system performance under load. We treat it as one.

As Jevgeni put it in the published piece, running this platform proves that Introduct builds software that holds up when it matters.

Why Do Software Companies Sponsor Cultural Events?

Most software companies that sponsor cultural events do it for brand visibility. Logo on the website, name in the program. That’s fine, but it’s not why we did it.

We chose PÖFF because it’s a real technical engagement. We don’t just lend our name. We build and manage the digital infrastructure behind the festival. That distinction matters to us, and we think it matters to anyone evaluating a software development partner.

There’s also something more personal in it.

The people building backend systems spend most of their time inside screens. Frameworks, pipelines, deployment cycles. That’s the job, and most of us genuinely like it. But stepping outside that context has value. It changes how you think about what you’re actually building and who it serves.

Jevgeni mentioned a specific film from last year’s festival: “Üheskoos üksi” (directed by Ali Vatansever), which won the Best Director award. The film deals with VR avatars, social media, and how hard it is to form real human connection in digital spaces. He said it resonated with him because of where he works.

That’s a real reaction. It’s the kind of thing a two-hour film can do that a sprint review cannot.

What Does This Partnership Say About Introduct as a Software Development Company?

Clients looking for a custom software development partner in Estonia or across Northern Europe often ask the same underlying question: can this team handle it when things get hard?

Technical reliability under load is not something you can demonstrate on a slide deck. You demonstrate it by running systems that matter, under real conditions, at real scale.

PÖFF is one of those conditions.

The festival’s 30th anniversary brings with it higher expectations, more visitors, and more scrutiny. Our goal is straightforward: every person who comes to buy a ticket finds their film with zero technical friction. No errors at checkout. No timeouts. Nothing that stands between them and the film they want to see.

That’s what good software is for.

PÖFF Turns 30. We’re Glad to Be Part of It.

Three decades is a long time for any institution. PÖFF has spent that time building something that matters well beyond Estonia’s borders. It’s a serious festival, taken seriously internationally.

We’ve been part of one year of that. We hope to be part of many more.

If you want to read the piece PÖFF published, you can find it on their website. For the technical side of the partnership, we wrote about it here.

And if you’re building something where system reliability is critical, let’s talk.

10 years of innovation. 30 years of festival. One partnership!
